Flying Fox
One of the activities we did at Sonshine Ranch was called the Flying Fox. We staggered up the hill to the starting platform with the heavy pulley in our hands. Hearts thumped as the parent on the platform hooked us on to the carabiner. ”Run and leap off the platform like superman flying after his enemy!” the parent shouted. We leapt off the platform and soared down the great big valley like a hawk.

Pikelet Heaven
On Thursday, we made pikelets. It was pikelet heaven! First we had to mix the ingredients together. The parents turned the stove on and then it was all up to us. We melted the butter, put the mixture in the pan and of course, ate the decadently delicious pikelets we made!

Dr Barr's Medical Talk

On Tuesday 8th of May, Dr Melodie Barr came to talk to the senior school ahout 'The Brain'.  This was for our topic, 'The World of Medicine.' First she talked about the basics of brain. We had a quiz about different types of brains. We found out that dolphins are the most intelligent animals in the animal kingdom.  The human brain has a lot of folds so it is very complex. Dr Barr also told us that a living brain is so soft that it can be cut with a butter knife! We were taught how the MRI scanner works. Dr Barr played us a video about a person going into the MRI scan. It is a big machine with a magnet rolling inside. People lie in and photos are taken of their insides. It is very noisy inside so the person wears headphones and they listen to music of their choice. We really loved the interesting talk with Dr Barr and learnt a lot from her.
