CAMP ADVENTURES

SONSHINE RANCH FLYING FOX
Swooping through the trees on a huge zipline flying fox is one of our Sonshine Ranch favorites. You get a harness connected to a carabiner and fly across a valley of trees and ferns. You may crash into several trees on the way across and back. But don’t worry, they won’t hurt that much!

PIKELET MAKING
Smelling a golden brown pikelet steaming like the sun on a hot greasy pan was a treat. The delicious pikelets were a delight for the Year 5 on Camp at Sunnyhills Schools. Flipping the drops of sunshine and watching them bubble makes us very hungry. Yummy, squishy, mushy pikelets oozing around our mouths.

Save our Souls

SOS

PRETENDING WE WERE STRANDED, USING OUR SURROUNDINGS TO MAKE AN SOS SHAPE. MIKE OUR CAMPLEADER CLAMERED UP THE STEEPEST HILL TO LOOK DOWN ON US. THE GROUP WITH THE MOST OBVIOUS SOS WINS. MIKE NEVER TOLD US THOUGH. IT REMAINS A SECRET.

These archers are no amatuers!!

Archery
When we first saw the bullseye we thought this is going to be simple but as we had taken our first shot our thoughts of Archery had completely changed. Archery was a challenge and also great fun. Pain was running through our arms as we pulled the arrow back. Flying through the air, the arrow aimed for the bullseye, sadly the wind picks it up and it misses.

Kayaking

Kayaking felt like walking on water. We glided through the water like ducklings following their mother. It was nice and peaceful floating through the water. We had races and played games on our kayaks. We ran across the kayaks and jumped into sludge brown water. We had an awesome time at kayaking.

Low Ropes
The low ropes course was a challenge, but with a bit of teamwork, we completed it with ease. The most challenging activity was the sinking Titanic. We had to balance our body weight on the Titanic for three seconds. It was the toughest and hardest activity yet on camp. Luckily we completed it with a bit of teamwork. We had an awesome time at low ropes.

Marvellous Mucky Mud Run

The muddiest, coldest yet most fun experience we have ever had, The Survival Mud Run. Running into icky water like a diving dolphin, mud splashing in my face. Dead fish float past my freezing body. I think to myself, “I can do it, don’t give up!” My team cheers me on as I push forward into the muddy gully to help my team collect the puzzle pieces to win the challenge!
