Fantastic Fairytales

We have been working hard on our writing and would love to share with you our Fairytales that we had to put into a newspaper report format.  We worked hard on these and found out it wasn't as easy to do as it sounded.  We hope you enjoy and look forward to your feedback.

Dorothy’s Amazing Adventure in Oz
Miss Gale returns safely home

An F5 tornado struck Kansas at approximately 4:30pm taking 12yr old Dorothy away from her beloved home and family to the strange Land of Oz
Kansas police had spent several days trying to track down Miss Gale. It wasn’t until she returned a week later that the times were able to find out her story.

“I didn’t know how I would get home to Aunt Em and Uncle Henry,” Dorothy told the Times, “I was so worried about them, in the end I was encouraged by the kind people in the land of Oz to follow the tremendously long yellow brick road to meet the Wizard of Oz to help me get back to Kansas City.”
Dorothy said that on the journey of the yellow brick road she met some strange characters. They needed her help. The cowardly lion needed courage, the stuffed scarecrow needed a brain and the tin man needed a heart.
“So we all followed the yellow brick road together,” said Dorothy, “on our way to find the Wizard of Oz who lived in Emerald City.”
She told Fairy Tale Times about the dangers they faced throughout their journey. “The Wicked Witch of the North sent her winged monkeys (winkies) out to capture me. Luckily my friends fought them off and saved my life.”
“We soon arrived safely at Emerald city. This was a bonus for my new friends.” explained Dorothy. “When we got to meet the Wizard, he granted each of them their wishes but best of all I got to home to Kansas City in a hot air balloon.”
“It is really nice to be back home in my new house with my family.” said Dorothy.

Young Egg Finally Cracked
Yesterday at approximately 2:32pm a young egg named Humpty Dumpty fell off a dangerously high diving board. Staining the pool by leaving an orange gooey mess. Witnesses say “He was too high not to crack”.
All the life guards and all of John Key’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again. He was rushed to Hospital and was treated immediately. The Doctor was quoted saying “He’s coming out fine but will need a full recovery of six weeks.” Humpty had fractured his egg shell in eight different places and lost nearly all of his yolk cells.
Months past and Humpty was fully recovered and wanted to have another go at the diving board. So he walked up the ladder, jumped and did a triple back flip and had a perfect landing.

Wolf side-tracks girl on walk to Grandmas
Wolf swallows girl and Grandma whole

On Friday 17th of October Little Red Riding Hood and her mother were surprised to find that when Little Red Riding Hood went to go and give her ill Granny some treats, she (Granny), had been devoured by a deadly wolf. “I arrived to find that Granny had been eaten and a wolf was wearing her clothes and lying in her bed.” cried a disgusted Little Red Riding Hood.
“What happened next is a mystery.” Sergeant Hood told the Fairy Tale Times. Witness Mr   Woodcutter said “I’m sure that I saw the wolf swallow Little Red Riding Hood as well but I could  have been seeing things. I cut the wolf open and Little Red Riding Hood jumped out with her Granny unharmed.”
Police are looking for the wolf as he got sewn up again where he was cut, and he is still on the loose. If you see this deadly criminal, lock all doors and windows and report immediately to the police.

Gingerbread Man comes to life and escapes

Yesterday afternoon a short gingerbread man came to life and escaped from the oven of the Bobson’s and ran away down the path. Mrs Bobson had cooked the Gingerbread man for her niece Hannah that loves gingerbread.
After seeing the little man leap out the window Mrs Bobson automatically sprinted out the door and raced after it.
The crumbly gingerbread man was then chased by a cow. “I was absolutely starving” the cow told food news.
After Ginger had been running 2.6 km he was far ahead, his running came to an end as he came to a river.  A fox then popped out of the clear blue water and managed to convince the short dessert to climb on his head to cross the river.
With the gingerbread man unaware the fox swooped his tongue, picked up the gingerbread man and swallowed him whole. The fox reported to food news “He was tasty”. The magical gingerbread man was gone forever.

Troll Outsmarted By a Couple of Billy Goats
Troll Out Of The Way Forever
Yesterday Friday 13th of June Troll Bobson was rushed to hospital with broken bones and minor bumps and bruises.
At 6:30pm 25 minutes before the incident happened a kid came running up towards the bridge and he was frightened to see a wart covered 20 toed troll.  All the kid wanted to do was eat the super deluxe grass on the other side. Billy the kid is very thankful that he paid attention in class because he was able to outsmart the troll into not eating him. So Billy got let off lucky.
10 minutes later mother goat came sprinting by, trying to find her son (Billy). Mother goat was quite relieved to see her son in the distance eating the super deluxe grass peacefully just on the other side of the bridge. She started to walk across the bridge, the troll jumped up on to the bridge and stopped. The troll just stood there and looked into her eyes and just looked at the beautiful sight. “I swear I saw a spark inside her heart. I knew my wait was over, and I had found my true love”. The troll let mother goat go to her child. The troll was still dazed even when he got knocked out by father goat.
Troll was rushed to hospital straight away. Doctors say “he’s coming through well, but he needs a neck brace and a wheel chair for the rest of his life.
Father goat didn’t apologize to troll “I saw him he saw eye to eye with my lady”. Doctors say he will make a full recovery. He has already learned his lesson which is not to see eye to eye with women already taken.

WOLF GOES WILD

Down at one of the pig’s house at 1:30PM 3 little pigs are trapped inside unarmed while something from the chimney is trying to come in.
Police Officers at the scene said “They called us up but we couldn’t get in because the doors and windows were sealed.
Until 1:45PM the police couldn’t really do anything but they were keeping contact with the pigs inside.
The three pigs said they heard something coming from the chimney. Officers told the three little pigs stay close together. They waited 10 minutes inside the house and the sound stopped. The Officers asked the 3 pigs “What Happened?” and they said the sound stopped. 15 minutes later the pigs said the sound started again. Officers told the 3 pigs “Light the Fire!” The Pigs lit the fire and after 30 seconds they heard a really loud “AAHHHHHHH!!!!!”

Officers at the scene said it was the wolf who tried to come through the chimney and after 5 minutes Officers said it was clear to come out.
People said the wolf was sent to MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON IN THE U.S and won’t be seen for a long time.

Jungle of The TASTY Zoo Animals

Stampeding Elephants, Roaring Lions, How did they get in?
We made delicious cupcakes with animals placed carefully on top. Zooming Zebras
joined all of the other animals. Lush green buttercream icing coated the chocolate cupcakes
as soft green grass.

They were very fiddly and took a long time to perfect.
We hope the taste as good as they look.

Roar! Was that a fierce lion on top of a chocolate cupcake? Well I think it was.
The students were overtaken by a stampede of animal cupcakes. The astonishing pupils of the class made the designs. Thanks to Mrs Knofflock & Mrs Davies for the challenge to create the cupcakes.

An animal adventure
(We guess in a way)

We went on a safari of the baked jungle of room 7.   The products were amazing. We discovered the common pineapple lion, the uncommon chocolate monkey the rare vanilla zebra and the never before seen legendary caramel winking elephant .  Our safari was a great success and the baking was too.  We are now looking forward to our next adventure making and frosting edible Highland Hills.

Peter, Jamie, Ashley, Cathrine L and Katie

Our jungle was invaded with....
Hungry Hippo’s, Lazy Lion’s, Enormous Elephant’s, Tremendous Tiger’s, Goofy Giraffe’s, Zooming Zebra’s and Mischievous Monkey’s!
We were amazed how our cupcake animals turned out. We hope they taste more terrific than they look!

Having Fun with Slings

At the end of Term Two Room 7 had a guest speaker Mrs Sutton who is a nurse.  She talked to us about her life in the field of medicine.  Early this term she sent us in some slings, we had a lot of fun pretending we had broken arms and wearing slings even though our arms weren’t broken.  This showed us what it would be like to have a broken arm or hand. Room 7 had to put the sling on the hand that they usually work with and use their other hand to write and work.  Here are some pictures we would like to show you.

Reciprocal Reading

In the past few weeks we have been working on Reciprocal Reading with Mrs Brunton.  Our focus has been to improve our skills in the areas of summarising, predicting and clarifying.  One article that we read was particularly interesting about Afghanistan refugees.  There was a huge amount of new vocabulary that we discussed and some really inetresting facts to learn also.  Ask us about it at home and we will enlighten you!!
